As someone who came to know the Corries only after Roy Williamson’s death, this DVD provides a taste of what it must have been like to see the duo perform live. All the humor and vivacity of the pair is on display throughout the 17 songs presented. Frequent crowd shots demonstrate how the Corries could connect with their audience. The group’s versatility is also on display as instrument upon instrument is pulled out by Roy and Ronnie. The songs range from the touching “Green Fields of France” to the duo’s definitive reading of the traditional sing-along “Bonnie Dundee.” Appropriately, Roy’s “Flower of Scotland” closes the performance. This DVD will please aficionados of the group but also serves as a great introduction to their magic for new fans.

Peat Fire Flame and Stovies
This is the one to have on the car sounds system. When the car next to you is full of bling and loud rap, up with the window and on with “Lucille” to hear what enjoyment is really about (and if Jamie Oliver is making you feel guilty, text “your tea’s in the chippy” to your nearest and dearest and forget it ).
When you have had all you can take of traffic and noise, go to a calmer place with The Peat Fire Flame and Eriskay Love Lilt. Or fight back at the boss with The Standard on the Braes O’Mar.
Whatever, here is a toolkit for sanity in the city

I bought Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 for my husband and he loved them both. He is a huge fan of the corries and has been since he was very young. When we emigrated to Canada he had to leave his Corries videos behind as they do not play over here, so to be able to get these DVDs that will play over here is fantastic. If only we could get Years Must Roll On and Flower of Scotland as region 1 DVDs…..Both DVDs are well put together and picture and sound quality on both are excellent. I would reccomend both items to anyone.

I bought four baseball caps with The Flower of Scotland motif. I gave them to my four grandsons. When we attended the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival at Estes Park, Colorado, they proudly wore them.
Over the period of two days, this event draws thousands of people. One of my grandsons told me, “Gee, thanks grandmother! I couldn’t walk anyplace without someone asking me where I got my hat!” Another grandson’s comment was, “Thanks grandmother. I met a lot of girls who came up to ask about my hat. I intend to keep in touch with three of them.” A third grandson said, “Yeah grandmother. You really did it. I am tired of people telling me that I look darling in my hat with my red hair and green eyes,” and the last grandson just rolled his eyes. The four of them took full advantage of their unique headgear–they paraded arm-in-arm around the fairgrounds singing,”Oh Flower of Scotland.” Altogether, they each experienced many social interactions based on their headgear. I only wish that we had printed cards with the purchase information on it for them to pass out!
