Gavin – wonderful to learn that this is to be released in CD format! I actually have the Live a Live O LP – bought way back in the very early 70s! It was released by Contour – and described as ‘a quality low price recording’! In fact, it was the very first Corries record I bought, having seen them, almost by accident, in concert on the BBC one evening long, long ago. i was in the process of flicking through the channels at the time – probaly trying to avoid some football match! – and found myself staying with the program, utterly captivated by their music. I’d not heard of the Corries before – but just knew I had to hear more of that sound….. I have nearly all of the Corries recordings on old LPs – but as their output is now almost all re-released on CDs, perhaps I should start re-stocking…

This was also my first Corries recording. It was brought to me by my cousin, Wiinnie Knox Croall (wife of John Croall of Jock Tamson’s Bairns), when she and her parents visited us here in Arizona over 30 years ago. I’ve enjoyed it so much that is now sounds pretty bad. I’m so happy to see that Gavin was able to find the master and reproduce it. I look forward to getting it shortly.

Waited for this one to appear in CD format for years !!!!!.
My original copy on the cheapie Contour label sold in Woolworths shops now sounds like Martian static. So I was over the moon when I found and bought a nearly mint copy at the Radio Forth Charity Auction, 2 years ago at the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh, it having lain in their vaults untouched for years. However, at last….CD re-masteredquality.
This contains without a doubt the most beautiful version one will ever hear of “Busk, Busk, Bonnie Lassie”, simplicity itself in it’s recording. A song amazingly not often recorded. Having grown up in Blairgowrie and spent my summer holidays with relatives in Bonnie Glenshee, I still get tingles every time I hear this song.
Being one of the minor less well know albums, I never thought this would see light of day on CD and I remember discussing it with Gavin after I found the mint LP.
Hats off to Gavin, you have re-found for everybody, a vital piece of Corries history with this one.
Damn shame I can only give it 5 stars on this bloody computer….it’s beyond a classic !!. Muchos thanks.

I also bought the “Live” A Live O album on vinyl in the 1970s, along with every other album I think the Corries ever released. A collection I am very proud of indeed. In my opinion it was one of the best albums they ever released, amply demonstrating what the Corries were all about a serious side but also a very humorous side also and the sound was terrific!
It’s really great to see these old recordings being transferred to cd. Keep up the good work.
